 OREGON STATE SOCIETY RECEIVES AWARDS

The Oregon State Society received the 1st place award and most improved award for its newsletter, The MicroScoop, at AMT Annual Convention on July 10, 2003.

Also, during the Awards Ceremony on July 10, President Marilyn Albertsen was awarded the Distinguished Achievement Award, Edna Anderson the Silver Service Award, Willy Richardson, Pillar Award and Louis Isabell was awarded the Medallion of Merit (MOM), which is the highest award a Medical Assistant can receive in AMT.

Timeline

  • 1950 - A determined and entergentic group of individuals formed the non profit society of OSSAMT. 
  • 1956 - National AMT granted them a charter. 
  • 1960 - The first convention was held in Klamath Falls, Oregon and lasted three days
  • 1970 the first service award was awarded.  It became known as the Charles E. Martin award. 
  • 1990 - Publication of our first individual state newsletter began. Prior to this publication, OSSAMT and ASMT had a joint publication. 

Over the years our members have been honored with several National awards.  OSSAMT members have received 15 Distinguished Achievement, 7 Exceptional Merit, 5 Pillar, 2 Becky, 2 Silver Service, 1 RMA of the year, and 1 MOM. 

A dedicated team of volunteers from the society along with OSCLS put together seminars twice a year.  There are between 300-400 medical personnel attending these three -day events.
