Certification Continuation Program (CCP)

Q: What does CCP stand for?

A: Certification Continuation Program.

Q: I became certified prior to January 1, 2006; do I have to comply with CCP?

A: No – only those newly certified members need to comply.  Anyone becoming certified prior to January 1, 2006, need not comply. However, all certificants that have not held current membership for longer than three years must comply with the program in order to reinstate.

Q: How often do I need to show compliance?

A: Every three years.  If you were certified 1/1/2006-5/31/2006, you need to turn in your Worksheet by 3/1/2009.

If you were certified 06/1/2006-11/30/2006, you need to turn in your Worksheet by 9/1/2009

If you are certified 12/1/2006-5/31/2007, you need to turn in your worksheet by 3/1/2010, and if you are certified 6/1/2007-11/20/2007, you need to turn in your Worksheet by 9/1/2010.

Q: If I don’t return the form by the date due, what happens?

A: Your certification will be temporarily suspended following a 30-day grace period.  Failure to return the form after the 30-day grace period will result in the de-activation of your certification.

Q: If my certification is de-activated by AMT and then I send in my form, can my certification become re-activated?

A: Yes, however you will have to be reinstated and show proof by submitting all documentation, not just the worksheet, indicating that you have met the required number of points in the last three years either through continuous employment, continuing education, or by complying with other means of meeting the CCP criteria. Taking the certification examination again is NOT an option.

Q: What are the requirements of the program?

A: Each newly certified member is required to accumulate a certain number of points every three years.

Q: What paperwork is required?

A:  A “Compliance Evaluation Worksheet and Attestation (Worksheet)” will be mailed close to your three-year mark. This worksheet must be completed, signed and returned to AMT by the due date.

Q: How long to do I need to keep my back-up documentation?

A: AMT recommends you keep it for one full year.  Auditing of members will be done twice a year.

Q: What happens if I was out of work for a leave of absence due to sickness and cannot produce the required number of points for that three-year period?

A: AMT will require documentation from a doctor that you were out of work for sickness and you will have a one-year probationary period to obtain the required number of points.

Q: I need to reinstate my certification for AMT – do I have to comply with CCP?

A: If you have not been an active member for three or more years, you will need to fill out the Worksheet, and submit all supporting documentation and will be required to follow the same guidelines as a newly certified member.

Q: Are there additional fees for newly certified members in regard to CCP?

A: There are no additional fees outside the normal yearly fee for all members.

Q: Can I comply with the CCP program by retaking the certification examination?

A: No. Retaking of the examination is NOT an option

Q: I have been out of the field for over 10 years; can I get reinstated?

A: Yes. However, you will need to provide proof that you have meet the required number of points for your certification recently by submitting all documents.  Once the documents are reviewed and you have met the required number of points, your certification will become active again.  You will need to follow the same guidelines as any newly certified members and resubmit proof of compliance with the CCP program every three years.

Q: How will I know whether or not a continuing education course I take will be accepted in the CCP program?

A: As a member of AMT, you are automatically enrolled in AMTIE (AMT Institute for Education); this no-charge program records all of your CE courses throughout the year.  If you turn in your CE courses every year, you receive a report card that lets you know what was accepted or not.  At the end of the report card it also lets you know the number of hours you received which will assist you in the number of points you need.
