Q: What does CCP stand for?
A: Certification Continuation Program.
Q: I became certified prior to January 1, 2006; Do I have to comply with CCP?
A: Only those who are requesting reinstatement and have had inactive membership for three or more years need not comply.
Q: How often do I need to show compliance?
A: Every three years. As an example, if you were initially certified on 5/1/2006, you will need to pay your current dues AND submit your Compliance Evaluation Worksheet and Attestation Form prior to 5/1/2009. If you fail to do so, your membership and certification will not continue past this point. As a note, you will still need to pay your 2007 and 2008 dues in order to keep your membership active throughout the three-year period. Another way to look at the timing of this example:
May 1, 2006 Initially Certified
Prior to May 1, 2007 Pay Annual Dues
Prior to May 1, 2008 Pay Annual Dues
Prior to May 1, 2009 Pay Annual Dues and Complete/Submit CCP Worksheet
Q: Can I comply with the CCP program by retaking the certification examination?
A: No. Retaking of the examination is NOT an option
Q: I am reinstating my membership. Do I need to comply with CCP?
A: If you were initially certified after January 1, 2006, you will need to comply with the CCP requirements. If you were initially certified prior to January 1, 2006 you will need to comply with CCP only if you have been an inactive member for three years or longer. This is a one time compliance only. To reinstate, you will submit the Compliance Evaluation Worksheet and Attestation Form and pay the appropriate reinstatement fees. Those who were initially certified prior to January 1, 2006 but have been an active member within three years of the reinstatement request will only have to pay the appropriate reinstatement fees.
Q. How does AMTIE work with CCP?
A: The AMT Institute of Education (AMTIE) is a great way to record your continuing education (CE) credits. This program is available to all members at no additional charge. As you take courses and attend seminars, you can submit the information to AMTIE and your CE hours will be tracked for you in form of a report card. AMTIE has specific annual CE criteria and issues a “Continuing Education Certification of Compliance” for those who meet the criteria in a given year. Credit earned through AMTIE may be used alone, or in combination with credit from other acceptable categories (such as work experience), to meet CCP requirements. For more information on AMTIE, please click here.
Q: What paperwork is required?
A: A “Compliance Evaluation Worksheet and Attestation Form” will be mailed close to your three-year mark. This worksheet must be completed, signed and returned to AMT by the due date.
Q: How long do I need to keep my supporting documentation?
A: AMT recommends you keep it for one full year.
Q: How will I know whether a continuing education course or other professional activities that I am involved in will be accepted in the CCP program?
A: If you have any question, please call or email the AMT and we will let you know. Also, as a member of AMT, you are automatically enrolled in AMTIE (AMT Institute for Education); this no-charge program records all of your CE courses throughout the year. If you turn in your CE courses every year, you receive a report card that lets you know what was accepted. At the end of the report card it also lets you know the number of hours you received which will assist you in keeping track of points. For more information on AMTIE, please click here.
Q: Are there additional fees for newly certified members in regard to CCP?
A: There are no additional fees outside the normal yearly fee for all members.
Q: If I don’t return the form by the date due, what happens?
A: Your certification will be temporarily suspended following a 30-day grace period. Failure to return the form after the 30-day grace period will result in the deactivation of your certification.
Q: What happens if I was out of work for a leave of absence due to an illness and cannot produce the required number of points for that three-year period?
A: AMT will require documentation from a doctor that you were out of work for an illness and you will have a one-year probationary period to obtain the required number of points.
