American Medical Technologists
Receives Re-Accreditation of its Certification Programs
from the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA)

WASHINGTON (October 3, 2008)—The NCCA has re-accredited the American Medical Technologists (AMT) Medical Technology (MT), Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT), Phlebotomy (RPT), Medical Assistant (RMA), Medical Administrative Specialist (CMAS) and Dental Assistant (RDA) certification programs for a five-year period, expiring in 2013. American Medical Technologists received this renewal by submitting an application that demonstrated each of the programs’ compliance with the NCCA’s Standards for the Accreditation of Certification Programs. Currently, over 41,000 allied health professionals are certified by AMT.

Founded in 1939, AMT is a nonprofit certification organization acting in the public interest by establishing and enforcing education, examination, experience and ethics requirements for certification. AMT’s certification programs first received Commission accreditation in 1980. AMT is considered one of the charter accredited agencies, enjoying continual accreditation throughout the Commission's existence.

NCCA is the accrediting body of the National Organization for Competency Assurance (NOCA), an organization with over 350 members, more than 90 of which have accredited programs. Since 1977, the NCCA has been accrediting certifying programs based on the highest quality standards in professional certification to ensure the programs adhere to modern standards of practice in the certification industry. NCCA uses a peer review process to: establish accreditation standards; evaluate compliance with these standards; recognize organizations/programs which demonstrate compliance; and serve as a resource on quality certification.

AMT is located at 10700 W. Higgins Road, Suite 150, Rosemont, IL 60018; telephone 847/823-5169; facsimile 847-823-0458. website: www.amt1.com
