Keeping My Certification Current

Q: Why should I keep my certification current?

A: Keeping your certification current enables you to prove to employers that your certification is up-to-date.

Q: How do I keep my certification current?

A: In October of each year, you will receive a certification renewal notice for each certification you hold.  Renewal fees must be in the AMT office prior to December 31 to not incur late charges.

Q: What is my renewal fee?

A:  The renewal fees are listed below.  If you hold more than one certification you receive a 20% discount.

  • MT/MLT and Laboratory Consultants:  $85
  • Medical Assistants/Dental Assistants/Office Laboratory Technicians/Phlebotomists/Medical Administrative Specialist:  $48
  • Allied Health Instructor:  $25

Q: Once I pay my renewal what do I receive from AMT?

A: Once your renewal has been posted, you will receive a new ID card and a seal for your certificate.  The seal and the card list the year that you paid for.

Q: What happends if I miss the December 31 deadline for paying my renewal fee?

A: After December 31 a $20 late charge applies to each certification you hold.  If you do not pay by August 1, you must be reinstated and additional fees apply.
