Schools or Colleges: Procedures and Testing

Q: I want to offer paper and pencil tests with a proctor at my school.  Is that possible?

A: Yes, it is possible.  If a school's program meets AMT's requirements you are eligible to have paper and pencil tests with a proctor at your school.

Q: Can one of my instructors be the proctor?

A: No. AMT sends in an outside proctor for security reasons.  Proctors are AMT members in good standing, and usually have proctored in the past.  The reason AMT sends a proctor to the school is because it keeps our certification examinations secure.

Q:  How long before the test do I have to send in all my students applications?

A: Applications should be sent a minimum of six (6) weeks prior to the testing date.

Q: Does AMT assign my testing date?

A: No, the school picks the date and the time that they want the certification examination held.  AMT works with the schools to make sure a proctor can be found for that date.

Q: What information do I have to send in with my students' applications?

A: A roster of the students who will be taking the test, along with the test date and time needs to be submitted every time a test is scheduled.  Only students listed on this roster sheet are eligible to sit the exam on the date specified.

Q: Can I add students at a later date after I send in my roster?

A: Yes, as long as an application is received with the application fee and AMT has enough time to process the application.

Q: When will my students receive the results of the certification examination?

A: It takes usually six to eight weeks to grade the exams.  However, final scores are not released to the students until the final transcript is sent to AMT.  Once the final transcript is sent, then the student will receive a letter stating that they have passed the exam or not.  The will also receive their ID card and a certification certificate.

Q: Can I find out how my students did?

A: Yes.  The student can sign the back of the application, and their scores will be released to the school OR the school can request the pass/fail rate of the class.  This will tell the instructor and the school how many students passed the exam and how many failed the exam.
